About Joanna Zucker

Growing up in a working-class family taught Joanna Prokosch Zucker a strong work ethic and solid family values, which she now applies to her life as a full-time mom and business woman.

Joanna received a Bachelor degree of Science in Marketing, from the University of Scranton and while working on her MBA at the University of Michigan, interned at Procter & Gamble. She returned to work at Procter & Gamble fulltime, and thers she met Arnie Zucker, and they were married in 2000. Together they have three children.

Joanna was so often asked by her family, friends and colleagues, "How do you do it?" that she began to track what she and Arnie did to make ends meet, manage the chaos of a dual-career family, and stay happy. In sharing her ideas and concepts with her peers and mentors, they encouraged her to pass on her experiences to others. On her third maternity leave, she wrote the book Millennium Mom.

Joanna's hope is that Millennium Mom will save women a few minutes each day so they can feel less stressed, more fulfilled, and can enjoy life with their families as she does with her own family. You can email Joanna at joanna@millenniummom.com or blog with her at www.millenniummom.com.

10 Things You Need to Prepare for Baby

Can You Honestly Answer "Yes"?

• Is managing the house and kids a partnership?

• Did you choose the right career and the right employer to have it all?

• Are you completely satisfied with your childcare?

• Do you have a goal you are working towards?

If you can't, it's okay. It's never too late to make changes.

Our Favorite Tips for Simplifying

• Sunday night cooking. Each Sunday night as you prepare for dinner, try to cook at least one additional meal. This will reduce your burden during the workweek so you can spend more time before and after dinner with the family.

• Limit your child’s activities. I know we all feel the pressure to provide everything we can for our kids, but we can end up over-committing them and ourselves far to early in their life. Pick one or two things a year that they will do and spend the rest of your nights playing, dancing or singing as a family. You will be surprised how much you can teach them on your own.

• Give up on being perfect. If you just follow this tip your life will be enhanced immensely. As women, we have a natural instinct to want to cross every ‘T’ and dot every ‘I’. Practice the 80/20 rule, meaning focusing on the 20% that really matters, which often isn’t perfection.

• Catch up with friends and family during drive times. Get a good headset for your cell phone, program your key numbers in your phone and multi-task!

• Every now and then give yourself a night off. Be sure your husband takes a break now and then too. Leave the house if you need to, but use some downtime to de-stress, relax and recharge.

• Teach your children to work it out! In times of trouble, teach them how to solve their problems and conflicts, be more independent and respect others. Not only will you save time, but you'll teach your children a lifelong valuable lesson.

• Keep snacks in your car to ease you through errands and long commutes. Throw in a stock of baby wipes too for messes.
