Our Favorite Dual-Action Ideas
• Eyeglass or cassette case or plastic soap box
Store your manicure or sewing supplies so everything you need to fix a snag or loose button will be all in one place. Contain small items in your purse, glove compartment, junk drawer or travel bags. Ditto for a contact lens case or pill box. We keep guitar picks in ours.
• Shower curtain rings
Hang scarves or belts by slipping them through the rings then hang the ring over a hook, nail or a hanger. Use shower hooks to hang purses and other bags.
• Lunch box
Pack your toiletries and protect the rest of your luggage from spills using an insulated lunch bag. The handle hangs over a bathroom door knob too. Use a lunch box as a child's to-go carrying case to contain small toys and activities for the road and dining out. Makes a perfect art or hobby caddy too.
• Toothpicks
Place a toothpick under a button to keep from sewing it on too tightly. The play in the thread prevents puckering and makes bulkier materials easier to button. Mark the start of a tape roll so you can find it quicker and easier. Use one to light a candle with the wick is hard to reach (be careful!) or apply glue to tiny craft projects.
• CD holders
Perfect to organize receipts, small papers, passes, coupons, directions and more, in car or at home.
• Nail Polish
Code your
keys and find them easier. Lay keys flat and apply a thick coat of a different shade to the top of each one. Or if you wear stockings, they stop runners in a pinch. To this day, my mom still covers her mosquito bites in polish!
• Tissue Box
Control all of those pesky grocery bags that you hope to re-use one day.
• Coat Rack
Easily hang
jewelry, ribbons, ties, ball caps, belts and more. Try this: tie pretty ribbon to binder clips, attach your child's artwork and drape over the hooks for the ultimate art gallery.
Listen to the show for our ideas on more mult-purpose items. Jen loves clipboards, hooks, rubber bands and six-packs. Monica loves the lazy susan, shoe bags, file sorters and canning jars.
