Mama's Meat Sauce

Servings: 6-8

Why I Like It: A fix it and forget about it meal! This long and low sauce is rich and hearty. As a variation use Italian sausage.

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 medium onions, minced
2 pounds lean ground chuck
2 (28 ounce) cans whole tomatoes
1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (tomato paste can) water
2 teaspoons dried basil (fresh herbs are always a bonus!)
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper

Directions:
Saute garlic and onion in olive oil. Add ground chuck. Do not brown. Cook until pink is gone. Add all tomatoes and liquid, paste, water, basil, parsley, salt and pepper. Simmer for 4 hours uncovered.
